Chesrown NATIONAL NURSING COMMISSION TO EVALUATE MARICOPA COMMUNITY COLLEGES NURSING PROGRAM – PUBLIC FORUM PART OF PROCESSOctober 7, 2001 – A team from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission will be evaluating the Maricopa Community College District Nursing Program for continuing accreditation according to its national standards on October 9-11, 2001. The process includes a public forum scheduled for October 10 at 1:00pm at Rio Salado College Room 2A, 2323 W. 14th St. in Tempe, Arizona. The associate degree program has a fall enrollment of 726 students, a number considered to be exceptional by any measure. The Maricopa Community College District Nursing Program is a shared program with identical curriculum offered at Gateway Community College, Glendale Community College, Mesa Community College and Mesa-Boswell site, Phoenix College and Scottsdale Community College. Admission into the program is based on a first-come, first-served practice for all qualified applicants. The Maricopa County Community College District is one of the largest community college districts in the nation. It includes 10 colleges – Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Estrella Mountain Community College, GateWay Community College, Glendale Community College, Mesa Community College, Paradise Valley Community College, Phoenix College, Rio Salado College, Scottsdale Community College and South Mountain Community College. The District also includes the Maricopa Skill Center, Southwest Skill Center, several satellite campuses and business/industry, technical and customized training institutes and serves roughly a quarter million students annually.
