    Arizona Issues

Arizona Issues, a community partnership between the Maricopa Community Colleges and KPHO -TV, is hosting "The West Valley: Fact and Fiction," on Tuesday, April 17, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., in the La Sala Room, ASU West. The forum is open to the public and lunch is available.

In the aftermath of the stadium selection, questions are still being raised and some are yet unanswered. Phoenix's West Valley has often been perceived as less desirable than other areas in Greater Phoenix. Using an "interactive city hall" format, the forum will include both speakers and a panel discussion. Issues to be discussed in this open format are:

    • What is the correct image of the West Valley?
    • Where is the region headed and what types of growth will come?
    • Will it become a sea of housetops or a vibrant community, rich with cultural amenities?

Speakers for the event include Stan Cook of Landiscor Inc. and Elliott Pollack of Pollack/Ramros Companies. Panel members are Mayor Ronald J. Drake, Avondale; Grady Gammage, Gammage & Burnham and Diane McCarthy, WESTMARC. Councilman Phil Gordon and KPHO-TV anchors are also participants.

This is the third of the forums presented by the partnership that focus on issues facing the state of Arizona. The April forum is co-sponsored by WESTMARC.
