  • MCCD MAKES STRONG SHOWING AT GOVERNOR’S PROPOSITION 301 KICK OFF

    Kesler & the Governor
Faculty President Rosemary Kesler shakes hands with the Governor.
On September 14, Governor Jane Dee Hull kicked off Proposition 301 with the "Celebrate Education 2000" event at the Arizona Science Museum. Thousands of educators were there to meet Governor Hull and listen to her presentation on the Proposition.

Headed by Chancellor Dr. Fred Gaskin, Maricopa Community College District made a strong showing. Maricopa attendees included Raúl Cárdenas, Anna Solley, Gina Kranitz, Arnette Ward, Homero Lopez, Mary Vanis, Stanley Grossman, Marie Pepicello, Donna Schober, Rosemary Kesler, Ruth Howe, Chris Bustamante, Jack Lunsford and Michael Kidd. This team was fortunate to meet briefly with the Governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Graham Keegan as well as Phoenix Sun’s star Kevin Johnson.

Proposition 301 calls for a $0.006 sales tax increase to support education. Should 301 pass in November, Maricopa Community College District will receive approximately $5 million per year to support workforce development programs.
