“GIVE HOPE A HAND” – UNITED WAY 2000

Colleges throughout Maricopa Community College District have been enthusiastic in their support for United Way 2000. From collecting food to washing cars, from writing a personal check to personally volunteering to help with a myriad of activities, college and district employees and their families are giving “Hope a Hand.”

All of our colleges have created an abundance of activities in support of United Way. An enthusiastic group of about 90 from EMCC assembled 8,970 bags of food in the college’s “Day of Caring” event on Saturday, September 23. Volunteers held a car wash, sold hot dogs, sodas, raffle tickets and raised funds. At the end of the day, volunteers contributed towards raising a grand total of $2,633.90 to “Hope’s Closet.”

Estrella Mountain’s success is only one of the many stories of how Maricopa employees and colleges have reached out to help in this year’s United Way Campaign.

United Way Makes Your Caring Count. As one of the most efficient non-profits in the nation, Valley of the Sun United Way makes the most of your charitable contribution. That means more of your money goes directly to help people who really need help. Your contribution to United Way is carefully invested by more than 150 trained volunteers knowledgeable about the need of local programs. And, you may also direct your gift to one or more United Way’s Priority Areas. If you have questions about how you’d like to direct your gift, contact your college’ United Way representative.
