Manager Employee Services

Plans, develops, coordinates, implements and manages college-wide human resources programs and activities to ensure consistent application of district policies and procedures as well as applicable federal and state laws. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, vendors, students, consultants, outside agencies and the public.

Common Work Activities:

  • Plans, coordinates, administers, manages and monitors employee and adjunct faculty staffing process, applicant tracking, new-hire and screening process to ensure compliance with applicable requirements
  • Processes reassignments, transfers and separations
  • Supervises assigned staff; develops procedures for department and conducts training sessions related to department procedures, district human resources policies and procedures and human resources issues
  • Coordinates and monitors year ending HR maintenance and salary changes for all employees; authorizes emergency checks and payroll documents; monitors recruitment and advertising budget
  • Prepares reports, spreadsheets and periodic status reports of the college personnel budget; conducts new employee orientation
  • Evaluates and recommends department systems and procedures; participates on committees

Senior Human Resources Analyst

Coordinates and performs advanced level professional, technical and analytical work involved in implementation of Human Resource programs. These include functional areas of recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and HRIS. The Senior Human Resource Analyst is distinguished from the Human Resource Analyst by greater knowledge of Human Resource legislation, program implementation, modification of Human Resource programs, and responsibilities which require greater analytical ability and technical complexity.

Common Work Activities:

  • Informs management and employees on questions related to federal/state Human Resource related legislation and Human Resource processes
  • Advises employees and/or applicants on employment, employee relations, or pay issues and benefit programs, including tax implications
  • Researches, compiles, interprets data, and completes reports from ongoing human resource programs, including trend and outcome analysis
  • Assists in the development of training materials and participates in training activities such as: screening workshops, new employee orientations, software applications etc.
  • Ensures that employee and applicant records are legally and procedural correct in regards to data required and record retention
  • Helps to coordinate adjunct faculty program

Human Resources Assistant II

Provides responsible clerical and administrative assistance involving data collection and analysis, reviews complex documents and processes for conformance to policy, and routine dealings with highly confidential information and sensitive situations in an assigned Human Resources function. This classification is distinguished from the next lower class by the greater complexity, diversity and sensitivity of assignments.

Common Work Activities:

  • Responds to inquires requiring a detailed knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Reviews and audits various Human Resource documents and databases to ensure accuracy used for payroll input
  • Monitors and generates Notice of Personnel Actions; maintains liaison with temporary agencies and colleges requiring temporary staff
  • Composes routine correspondence; screens confidential calls and refers to manager;
  • Schedules meetings and maintains manager's calendar
  • Provides general secretarial support; coordinates services such as printing and word processing with other departments
  • Prepare records storage or destruction

PBX Operator

Operates a switchboard and relays incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls; greets incoming visitors in a courteous manner.

Common Work Activities:

  • Operates switch keys to make connections and relay calls on PBX switchboard equipment; supplies information to callers, records messages, keeps record of calls placed, long distance toll charges, people contacted
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, proofreading, and sorting of mail; may place outgoing long distance calls
  • Provides current information on registration deadlines, school schedules, faculty schedules, classroom schedules, greets incoming visitors, and notifies departments of their arrival
  • Receives incoming Federal Express deliveries and signed bids; maintains schedules for conference rooms
