The expected duration of the selection process is affected by a number of factors. The process typically is completed within three to five months.  Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be notified of the date and time of each of the following processes:

  • District Oral Board - Applicants will be evaluated to determine skill levels in verbal communication, judgment, problem solving, and other desired skills, including customer service and writing reports.

Applicants should take care to notify the Employee Services department of address, email or telephone number changes.

If an applicant is recommended for hire after a college interview, a conditional offer of employment is extended; this is followed by a second phase of selection processes:

  • Background Investigation - Applicants who successfully complete the college interview phase of the selection process will be required to undergo a background investigation consistent with Arizona POST requirements.

  • Psychological Evaluation - The psychological evaluation is behaviorally based and is intended to assess the applicant's suitability for peace officer duties as a District employee. A minimum of four (4) hours should be allotted for this evaluation.  This is scheduled and paid for by MCCCD.
