Job Summary

Assists in the set-up, delivery and break down of college catered events while also assisting with clerical tasks. The catering assistant will also assist in the college café, as needed.

Scope

This position works at the College café. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students and vendors. Equipment used includes institutional kitchen equipment and appliances and standard office equipment.

Supervision Received

This position reports to an assigned administrator, receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine and sensitive matters.

Supervision Exercised

May direct the work of students and temporary staff.

Representative Duties

Assists in the set-up, delivery and breakdown of college catered events., assists in coordination of catering events with kitchen staff; works with internal and external customers (i.e. auxiliary services and business services); assists in data entry for internal café financial records; assists with catering inventory; assists in making catering and café signs.

Knowledge & Abilities

Knowledge of: current practices in sustainable catering services; catering event set-up and customer service. Ability to: maintain accurate records; communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide outstanding customer service and establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

Training & Experience

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a college degree in hospitality and/or occupational experience in the required field.

Special Conditions of Employment

May require some evening and/or weekend work.

Working Conditions

This position may require lifting up to 25 pounds and the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time.
