TOWN OF BUCKEYE
The Town of Buckeye is a small town in southwestern Maricopa County
on the edge
of the Phoenix Metropolitan area with a population approaching 7,000.
The Maricopa
Community Colleges currently serve the Town of Buckeye through two teaching
sites
located within town boundaries. Buckeye residents also enjoy the educational
and
community services provided through other colleges within the ten-college
Maricopa
County Community College District, including distance education services.

Many students access their educational services through
the Internet, especially those
students incarcerated at one of the community colleges teaching
sites, the Lewis
Prison. Students from Buckeye families are provided educational services
at the
Buckeye Union High School teaching site which serves current high school
students
as well as providing evening and weekend coursework and training, with
students
often being working adults. In addition,many of the Maricopa Community
Colleges
maintain partnerships with corporations, industries and non-profits
organizations
located in or near the Town of Buckeye.
The Maricopa Community Colleges served more than 277,000
students in 2000-2001
and maintained corporate partnerships with more than 1,000 businesses
in the Valley.
Of all high school graduates in Maricopa County, 45% attend one of the
community
colleges within one year of graduation.
