CITY OF CHANDLER
The City of Chandler is a fast-growing area in southeastern Maricopa
County with a population
over 176,000. The Maricopa Community Colleges currently serve the City
of Chandler
through the Chandler-Gilbert Community College campus at 2626 East Pecos
Road,the
Williams Education Center on South Power Road, the Sun Lakes Education
Center on Alma
School Road and through eight additional teaching sites located within
city boundaries.
Chandler residents also enjoy the educational and community services
provided through other
colleges within the ten-college Maricopa County Community College District.

Many students access their educational services through
the Internet and others attend the
eight teaching sites located within the City of Chandler which provide
evening and weekend
coursework and training,with students often being working adults. Such
services were
provided at Intel, Avnet, Bank First, the Chandler Police Department
and Seton Catholic High
School. In addition,many of the Maricopa Community Colleges maintain
partnerships with
corporations, industries and non-profits organizations located in Chandler.
Chandler-Gilbert Community College was created in 1985
and is widely known for its
commitment to student service to and involvement in the community. In
2001,Chandler-
Gilbert Community College served more than 18,000 students in 222,221
square feet of
facility on the main campus and 151,312 square feet of facility at Williams
Education Center.
The annual budget of Chandler-Gilbert Community College is approximately
$18,000,000 with
most of those funds being spent on salaries or on the purchase of goods
and materials from
state and local merchants.
The Maricopa Community Colleges served more than 277,000
students in 2000-2001 and
maintained corporate partnerships with more than 1,000 businesses in
the Valley. Of all high
school graduates in Maricopa County, 45% attend one of the community
colleges within one
year of graduation.
