CITY OF MESA
The City of Mesa is the largest city in eastern Maricopa
County with a population of more than
400,000. The Maricopa Community Colleges currently serve the City of
Mesa through the
Mesa Community College campus at 1833 West Southern Avenue, the Red
Mountain campus
on North Power Road, the Downtown Center at Country Club and Brown,
the Downtown
Center on Centennial Way, Rio East Valley, the Williams gateway Airpark
Campus and through
twenty-five additional teaching sites located within city boundaries.
Mesa residents also enjoy
the educational and community services provided through other colleges
within the ten-college
Maricopa County Community College District.

Many students access their educational services through
the Internet and others attend the
twenty-five teaching sites located within the City of Mesa which provide
evening and weekend
coursework and training, with students often being working adults. Such
services were
provided at locations such as Carson High School, Dobson High School,
Mesa High School,
Westwood High School, AT&T, Boeing, Earnhardt Dodge, Mesa Fire Department,
Mesa
Police Academy, Mountain View High School, Red Mountain High School,
Sequoia Schools,
and Skyline High School. In addition,many of the Maricopa Community
Colleges maintain
partnerships with corporations,industries and non-profits organizations
located in Mesa.
Mesa Community College has served the community for
more than 35 years and is widely
known for its comprehensive array of programs to meet the needs of a
growing community.
In 2001, Mesa Community College served approximately 45,000 students
in 643,888 square
feet of facility on the West Southern and 106,204 square feet of facility
at the red Mountain
Campus. The annual budget of Mesa Community College is approximately
$54,000,000 with
most of those funds being spent on salaries or on the purchase of goods
and materials from
state and local merchants.
The Maricopa Community Colleges served more than 277,000
students in 2000-2001 and
maintained corporate partnerships with more than 1,000 businesses in
the Valley. Of all high
school graduates in Maricopa County, 45%attend one of the community
colleges within one
year of graduation.
