Frequently Asked Questions

  • MCCCD currently provides me with a cell phone/PDA for use due to my job responsibilities. What do I do with that phone?
  • The phone will remain the property of Maricopa Community Colleges and employees will sign a property loan agreement if they choose to continue using their current cell phone/PDA. Once the phone is no longer going to be used (not functioning properly or employee wants to replace it) the phone will need to be turned back in to the college/district for normal disposition of surplus property. It will then be the employee's responsibility to purchase a new phone or hand held device.

  • Are the cell phone/PDA allowances taxable?
  • Yes, taxes will be withheld from your allowance.

  • How will I receive the allowance?
  • Your allowance will be received in your paycheck.

  • Who is responsible for the bill?
  • The individual that signed up for the plan is responsible for payment of the bill.

  • Will the allowance cover my entire bill?
  • Probably not. The allowance is only meant to cover business use for Maricopa Community Colleges.

  • Where will my bill be sent?
  • You will own the cellular device as part of your personal plan so the bill will be sent to your residence?

  • What do I do if the cell phone/PDA provided to me by Maricopa Community Colleges fails to function properly?
  • The phone will need to be turned back in to the college/district for our normal disposition of surplus property. A new phone will need to be personally purchased by the employee and will then be the responsibility of that individual.

  • What do I do if my personal cell phone/PDA fails to function properly?
  • Contact your respective cellular carrier.
