What is it?Open enrollment is the opportunity for benefit eligible employees to make changes to their current health elections each Fiscal Year.
When is it?Each April. Changes become effective July 1 of the next Fiscal Year. (Fiscal Year is July through June) How does it work?An Open Enrollment packet is sent to every benefit eligible employee through interoffice mail. The packet contains your Benefit Statement, which shows your current health elections and projects the next years premiums, information regarding any changes to the health plans, as well as the Open Enrollment schedule. This packet is usually mailed around Spring Break. If you are on a leave of absence during open enrollment, you may not make open enrollment changes until your return to work. The 1st of July every benefit eligible employee will receive a Confirmation Statement that details their health elections for the new Fiscal Year. How do you make changes? The Benefit Staff travels to each college during the month of April. Employees attend the Open Enrollment sessions at their college location and complete benefit forms to change their health elections. Currently Short-term disability is the only election that can be made on-line through PeopleSoft's self-service option. The on-line service can only be used during the Open Enrollment dates for that year.
Are there deadlines?Yes.....The deadline to make changes during Open Enrollment is usually the first week in May. After that time changes can not be made to your health elections unless a change of status has occurred. Open Enrollment NewsLast modified: September 18, 2007 |
