Applications may be obtained and submitted in various ways:
Transcripts: MCCCD no longer requires transcripts (for U.S. school graduates*) during the application phase of the hiring process. In lieu of unofficial transcripts, all faculty applicants are required to complete the Course Completion Form and submit the form along with each application. All candidates, including current MCCCD employees and adjunct faculty, must submit the form. If you are called for an interview, please be prepared to bring a copy of your unofficial transcripts with you in order to verify your coursework.
*Transcripts from non U.S. institutions must be translated/evaluated (click here for instructions).
Application materials are due to the employment office at 5:00pm (Arizona time) on the deadline date. Applications may be hand delivered, mailed (received by closing date), deposited in the drop box located outside the District Office building, or submitted on-line.

Employment checks: MCCCD conducts criminal background checks on all new employees. In addition, MCCCD is required by Arizona law to participate in the Department of Homeland Security E-Verify program. All new employees will be checked to see if they are eligible to work in the U.S.

Starting salaries for faculty range from $41,225 - $79,443 and are based on education and experience. Download the complete salary schedule (pdf) for more information. Faculty contracts are for 9 months.

The State of Arizona no longer requires a certificate to teach at the community college level. However, the State has asked each County to establish its own minimum qualifications. Maricopa Community College District has adopted the following minimum qualifications for faculty:

ANTHROPOLOGY: A minimum of a master's degree in Anthropology.

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree plus 3 years work experience in specialty to be taught, must be able to obtain a current and valid Arizona RN license; must be able to meet health requirements regarding immunizations and titers; must be able to obtain CPR certification for Health Care Provider and Fingerprint Clearance Card.
COMPUTER SCIENCE: Please note that individuals hired as Computer Science faculty must have at least twenty (20) semester hours of graduate credit in Computer Science in order to obtain appointive status. If 20 graduate hours in Computer Science cannot be validated, then a program must be developed in concert with the individual, the department chair, and the appropriate dean to remove the deficiency during the usual probationary period, i.e., before appointive status can be recommended.
COUNSELOR: Master's degree with an emphasis in guidance/counseling from an accredited college or university and have completed at least twenty-four (24) semester or 36 quarter hours of graduate work including the following: 1. Counseling Theory and Techniques 2. Personality Theories or Development 3. Testing Theories and Applications 4. Group Counseling Theories and Techniques 5. Career Counseling Theories and Resources 6. Individual Assessment (a course that teaches how to prepare an individual assessment or appraisal from test data, transcripts, and other educational and personal data) 7. Practicum, supervised Practice, or Internship in Counseling. Must have completed either a Practicum,Supervised Practice, or an Internship in counseling (applicants for counseling positions are strongly encouraged to include course descriptions from the university's catalog for the aforementioned seven courses). A counselor may be hired if he/she has completed coursework in at least five (5) of the first six (6) above areas and has the required twenty-four (24) semester or 36 quarter hours of graduate work. If the counselor is deficient in an area 1 through 6, the deficiency shall be removed within one year of the date of hire. Area seven (7) must be completed before the date of hire.
ELECTRONICS: Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the field to be taught or closely related field and at least (3) three years of directly related occupational experience and skill in the field to be taught.

LIBRARIAN: Master's degree in Library or Information Science (or its equivalent) from a graduate professional program accredited by the American Library Association.
MATHEMATICS: Master's in any teaching field with 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours with Math or Statistics and Probability prefixes, or master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours with Math or Statistics and Probability prefixes, or a master's in mathematics. Note: A maximum of 9 upper division/graduate semester hours in math education or math content areas with physics or engineering prefixes may be counted toward the 24 at the discretion of the math department/division chair.
Please note: If selected for a Residential Faculty position, in order to reach appointive status, 21 graduate semester hours in MAT or STP prefixes must be obtained. If 21 hours of graduate credit cannot be validated at the time of hire, a program must be developed in concert with the individual involved, the department chair, and the appropriate dean to remove the deficiency during the probationary period. Note: A maximum of 6 semester graduate hours of math education may be counted toward the 21 hours at the discretion of the department/division chair.
NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least three (3) years of directly-related occupational experience and skill in the field to be taught, OR Associate's degree or at least sixty-four (64) semester hours from an accredited college or university and, in addition, at least five (5) years of directly related occupational experience in the field to be taught, OR Master's degree or higher earned degree from an accredited college or university with at least twenty-four (24) semester or thirty-six (36) quarter hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the field to be taught.
