APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
What is needed to apply?
A completed online application is required. The application also includes
a completed Course
Completion Form (rtf). Copies of diplomas and/or the Arizona State
Community College Teaching Certificate will not be accepted in lieu
of the Course Completion Form (rtf). A detailed
resume/vita and cover letter detailing how the applicant's education, training, and experience directly relates to the listed minimum/desired qualifications and the posted job description, should be included as part of the application.
Do I need to submit official transcripts?
No. As indicated, you need to complete and submit the Course
Completion Form (rtf). If you have academic credentials from non U.S. institutions
please read the FAQ section below on foreign transcripts..
What are the general qualifications for faculty positions?
Please, note that additional
qualifications are required for Anthropology, Clinical Nursing, Counseling, Computer
Science, Electronics, Humanities, Librarian, Mathematics, Nuclear
Medicine Technology, Physical Education, Religious Studies, Storytelling.
My Master's Degree has not yet been conferred; however, I will graduate
by August . Can I apply?
Applicants who want to be considered for disciplines requiring a
Master's degree but who will not graduate until May or August of
the application year may still apply for a faculty position. The
applicant must complete a Course Completion Form (CCF) listing all the required
coursework. If required coursework is in progress, state "in progress" in the grade column of the CCF. (See minimum
requirements for academic disciplines).
I am a graduate of a foreign institution. What
materials must I submit for evaluation?
Applicants who are foreign graduates must provide a transcript evaluation
from an MCCCD approved foreign credential evaluation agency (see below) to confirm that their
degree is equivalent to an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or
Doctorate degree awarded from an accredited institution in the United
States.
A copy of the transcript evaluation from an approved foreign credential evaluation agency must be submitted for each position. You may submit the evaluation by fax (480-731-8599), mail, or in-person to the District Human Resources Office. It must be received by 5 p.m. (Arizona time) on the closing date. Please write the posting number on the transcript evaluation. The transcript evaluation allows the Employee Services to verify that the requirements are met for the discipline.
Following are the companies from which the Maricopa County Community College District is authorized to accept evaluations:
Note to Foreign Graduates:
Even foreign transcripts printed in English need to have the Foreign Credential Evaluation. An evaluation of the completed degree program is required to determine equivalency to degree programs awarded from an accredited institution in the United States.
SCREENING AND INTERVIEWING
What if I am selected for an interview?
The courses in the field to be taught will be analyzed according to course title or course prefix. If we cannot identify that a particluar course is in the teaching field by the prefix or course title, you will be required to submit course descriptions.
If all the minimum qualifications are met, your application is forwarded to the search committee for review.
Candidates selected for an interview will be notified. Interviews are sometimes scheduled on very short notice. Be sure to inform us if you change your address and/or telephone number. Also, if you know you will be "unreachable" at your home or message telephone number for a period of time (for vacation, or out of town on business), provide a number where you can be reached.
While committees may choose to conduct initial telephone interviews, for second interviews or final interviews, the candidate may be required to travel to the college at the candidate's expense.
How and when will I know the outcome of the interview?
Candidates selected for a second interview or a micro-teach (a short
teaching demonstration) will be contacted by the specific college.
Once Employment receives a recommendation from the President,
the candidate will be called and a job offer extended through Employment. At that time you will be required to submit formal transcripts. Once a job offer has been accepted, all other interviewees
for that position will be notified by mail.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
A resume/vita and cover letter should be submitted as part of the application. Several search committees may review your materials looking for different qualities and experiences. Give yourself the best chance by detailing all your experiences, accomplishments, and strengths. The cover letter should describe how your education, training, and experience matches each of the minimum/desired qualifications and the posted job description.
