Job Summary
Procures, directs, and coordinates a variety of duties
dealing with the purchasing, distribution, and maintenance of athletic
equipment and uniforms to all student athletes for all college athletic
programs.
Scope
This position works in the area of athletics. Work contacts
include faculty, staff, students, physicians and parents. Equipment used
includes standard athletic equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Athletic Director; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervise and work in conjunction with individual coaches in
all areas dealing with the design, purchasing and maintenance of athletic
equipment and uniforms; supervise part-time staff.
Representative Duties
Directs and coordinates a full range of duties in all facets
of athletic equipment and uniforms; advises staff in health and safety
equipment requirements; budgets, plans, develops, and analyzes the purchasing
of athletic equipment and uniforms; assists in budget development for
individual athletic programs; confers with coaches to review purchases and
maintenance of equipment; prepares and updates a variety of records and reports
concerning all athletic equipment and uniforms; prepares proposals for
purchasing; negotiates with vendors/wholesalers for purchasing discounts;
develops a strategy/calendar for equipment repair and maintenance of equipment;
maintains and updates a variety of records and reports concerning all athletic
equipment and uniforms; supervise and train staff, coaches, and students;
coordinates game set up, equipment and team travel; performs related duties as
assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current practices in the acquisition, delivery
and maintenance of athletic equipment at post-secondary and secondary institutions;
health and safety equipment requirements; NCAA/NJCAA regulations;
bids/proposals; basic budgeting, and record keeping procedures.
Ability to: integrate multiple athletic programs and provide
services to meet the needs and goals of students and coaches; communicate
effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships
in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and/or experience in
dealing with athletic administration including health and safety equipment
requirements; work experience in retail or wholesale business with secondary or
post-secondary institutions; experience with financial systems and basic
computer applications.
Special Conditions of Employment
May require working flexible hours, weekends and nights;
requires travel to attend contests. This position may require a Class D Driver’s License.
