Job Summary


Plans, directs, implements and provides audio/visual, duplication, graphics and event support services for distance learning or other instructional programs and for college classrooms, conferences and special events.


Scope


This position works in an assigned area.  Work contacts include faculty, administrators, staff, business and vendors.  Equipment used includes various audio/visual and standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine matters


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Audio/visual Technician, Audio/visual Assistant, Graphics Designer, and/or other assigned staff.


Representative Duties


Secures licenses for media materials insuring that all agreements are current and in compliance for duplication and distribution of licensed materials; renews existing agreements, negotiates the expansion of rights and may negotiate costs for such rights; coordinates the duplication of all audio and video materials for various college programs; establishes policies and procedures for media reproduction, requests for duplication and distribution of materials; selects media products and formats to be utilized for duplication; manages the video duplication center; implements basic design changes; maintains databases for distribution of media materials sent to students; provides audio/visual support for college events, conferences and classes; maintains an inventory of appropriate equipment; coordinates graphic support activities with other departments; negotiates broadcast times for distance learning courses; researches new products and formats; acts as a resource for media products and services; supervises staff; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: federal copyright laws and guidelines; District policies; distance learning operations and licensing; current practices and equipment in audio/visual support; standard office practices and procedures.


Ability to: coordinate, monitor and support departments with appropriate equipment and activities; organize, prioritize, direct and evaluate the work of others; maintain accurate records; use a variety of audio/visual and office equipment; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree and/or experience in the coordination and monitoring of licensing and copyright laws, preparation of reports and general office procedures.

Working Conditions


Some positions may be required to lift up to 25 lb. objects; may require prolonged monitor viewing. This position may require a Class D Driver’s License.
