Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements wellness education programming for students, faculty, staff and community members.
Scope
This position works in the area of Wellness
Programming/Health Promotion. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty,
staff, students, community members and community healthcare agencies.
Equipment
used includes wellness assessment equipment (i.e. blood pressure
sphygmomanometer, and body composition assessment tools), audiovisual
and
camera equipment and computer.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator;
receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific
instructions
regarding non-routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
Provides work direction to assigned staff, students, student
interns, and volunteers.
Representative Duties
Plans, develops and implements wellness programs and curricula;
supervises and trains assigned staff; schedule and present wellness
sessions;
collaborates with community health organizations to coordinate wellness
fairs
and health screenings; designs, coordinates and implements wellness
incentive
programs; collaborates with district and campus wellness committees;
designs
and coordinates the implementation of strategies for identification and
location of community health care resources; coordinates the
implementation of
strategies for identification and location of community health care
resources;
coordinates special events for community participation; tracks program
participation and trends in wellness; develops and coordinates
communication
resources including newsletters and web resources at the
colleges/centers;
answers student/staff/community questions and provides education on
lifestyle
and behavior modification; prepares and monitors budget; performs
related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: wellness/health promotion principles, including
wellness education, health screenings, wellness fairs, health-risk
assessments,
and disease management; health risk assessment process and equipment;
use of
data tracking systems.
Ability to: develop and implement wellness
programs; analyze
and interpret health risk data; plan and evaluate program needs;
motivate and
work effectively with students/staff/community; make oral
presentations;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative
working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing
assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and/or experience
in health
promotion, public health, exercise and wellness, health education, or
human
resources.
Special Conditions of Employment
Position may require evenings and weekend work.
