Job Summary
Directs the area of prospect research and information management support needed to achieve institutional fundraising and marketing goals from private and public sources to benefit students and programs district wide.
Scope
This position works in the area of Resource Development. Work contacts include College Presidents; Vice Chancellors; faculty; administrators; staff; Maricopa Community College Foundation Directors and volunteers; campus resource developers; fundraising consultants; corporate and federal agency program officers; directors and officers of community based and non profit organizations; alumni associations, consultants, business/industry, community and governmental leaders. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of Resource Development; receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine matters.

Representative Duties
Directs the
gathering, analysis and application of a broad range of information necessary
for the development and implementation of corporate and foundation relations
programs to generate financial support for the District from local and national
corporations, foundations; and individuals; Directs and coordinates the design,
development, and implementation of data bases and information management
systems: Raisers Edge and other research databases used for fundraising,
marketing, public relations, corporate services, governmental relations, alumni
and foundation relations; utilizes social research methodologies to direct,
design, and conduct institutional, survey, basic, and prospect research
relative to fundraising and marketing issues; identifies new corporate and
foundation prospects, collects, analyzes data and provides information needed
for decision making related to achievement of fundraising goals; determines and facilitates training needs; manages the
purchase of microcomputer software and research databases; maintains liaison
with corporate and foundation donors to continue and increase giving; directs
the gathering of information in cultivation and solicitation of targeted
populations; directs the clearinghouse of information related to complex,
internal/external fund raising and multiple partnerships involving constituents
from corporations, foundations and other non profit organizations; provides
research to assist fund raising volunteers in solicitation of prospects and
existing donors; supports cultivation activities designed for new prospect
involvement; assist in the preparation and development of proposals for
external funding and grants; Directs
and conducts formal and informal training workshops/classes; assists in
the identification of user needs and selection of training materials and
modalities; performs
related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: prospect
research techniques in public and private sectors that creates accurate and
comprehensive information; manages online subscription data bases; principles
and practice of effective fundraising; principles and practices of information
management; institutional, community and educational data resources, leadership
dynamics; volunteer development and management, research design, practices and
techniques of information management systems.
Ability to: direct
and coordinate multiple projects to ensure colleges developing recommendations
for purposeful and useful decisions regarding strategies for seeking outside
funding sources, providing information to establish cooperative working
relationships with prospects; works with internal and external consultants;
develops consensus among individuals with various interests and perspectives;
manages and analyzes data on public and private funding sources; individual
prospects, census data, educational data, trend data, etc.; convert data into
meaningful information for fundraising or proposal development; maintain high
degree of confidentiality, organize and develop information used by program
officers’ in fund raising activities, use and train others to use research
tools and software; analyze complex data using computerized statistical
packages; communicate effectively orally and in writing; create, design and
perform research activities for prospect researchers at the campus level in
order for them to perform research duties. Direct activities and work of
others; make effective oral and written presentations; analyze data, assess
needs, recommend appropriate solutions; and establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college
degree in public or business administration or higher education with experience
in social research, policy analysis, and the development of small and large
-scale database and information management systems.
