TITLE: TECHNOLOGY TRAINER

Job Summary
Analyzes and develops user documentation and training
materials related to the coordination and presentation of workshops/classes
related technology.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts
include employees at all levels within the District. Equipment used includes
standard office equipment and a variety of software programs.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
None. Consultative
direction and training is provided to users of computer systems throughout the
District.
Representative Duties
Coordinates and conducts formal and informal training
workshops/classes; provides trouble‑shooting assistance to computer
system users; assists in the identification of user needs and selection of
training materials and modalities; researches instruction courseware and
materials; develops user documentation and edits manuals and training materials
as needed or requested; maintains updated awareness of developments in computer
systems applications and communicates with District, lab staff and users
regarding applications available; develops and distributes training/workshop
schedule; may provide liaison between technical IT/lab staff and users;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: a variety of computer equipment,
software and programming languages currently used in District computer systems;
instructional and training techniques.
Ability
to: translate technical information
into clear, easily understood terms; rapidly learn to use new computer
technologies, systems and languages; train users in the use of a variety of
computer software and hardware; trouble‑shoot user problems with computer
systems; identify user training needs; communicate effectively orally and in
writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in
the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be coursework in computer technology and/or
experience in the use of a variety of computer systems, along with some
experience in training or assisting computer users.

Working Conditions
Positions in this class may require prolonged monitor
viewing; may require prolonged periods of standing. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
