TITLE: Web Technician III

Designs, develops, upgrades, maintains, troubleshoots and monitors college, department and/or faculty websites. Assists users with the development of web pages and integrates them into the college website. Coordinates and tracks web processes.
Scope
This
position works in an assigned area. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, students, staff and vendors. Equipment used includes personal computers,
scanners, digital cameras and standard office equipment.
This
position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general
direction
regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding
non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Depending
upon location/department, may direct work of assigned staff.
Creates
and maintains websites which include coding, textual and graphical
components;
troubleshoots, repairs and maintains website software and hardware;
writes and
reviews content for the website; optimize all website pages to ensure
high
search engine rankings through ongoing research and implementation of
industry
and search engine standards; create and maintain promotional landing
pages and
newsletter articles; create tracking links to monitor on-line traffic;
may
create and implement overall internet marketing strategy and manage web
marketing initiatives; may design, plan, manage, and implement e mail
marketing
campaigns which includes scheduling and transmitting e-mails and
tracking
results; creates and edits computer graphics; attends meetings, trains
students
and faculty on equipment and designs; reviews and recommends changes in
equipment and implements new technologies; maintains liaison with other
departments;
performs related duties assigned.
Knowledge
of computer hardware and software; methods, practices and terminology
used for
web site development; marketing techniques.
Ability
to: work with various computer hardware
and software; create and design website graphics, write code and
troubleshoot
problems; manage and implement web marketing activities; communicate
effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships
with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training
and Experience
Any
combination of education, training and experience that provides the
required
knowledge and abilities. An example of
this would be experience in information technology and/or graphic
design,
programming or web design.

Working Conditions
Position may be exposed to prolonged
monitor viewing. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
