Job Summary
Coordinates the development and implementation of
articulation agreements to eliminate duplication and promote cooperation in
occupational education offerings between an assigned college and local high
schools, in accordance with college and District goals and relevant
legislation.
Scope
This position works in the area of Occupational
Education/Educational Development. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students of assigned college
and local high schools, and the public.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to a Dean or Director Occupational
Education, responsible for the college or district articulation efforts;
receives broad latitude in carrying out assigned duties.
Supervision Exercised
This position provides work direction to secretarial staff
and consultative direction to faculty and administrators regarding the
development and implementation of articulation agreements.
Representative Duties
Develops articulation agreements between the college and
high schools by arranging meeting with appropriate administrators, negotiating
specific elements, and proposing agreements; develops specific agreements for
joint facility use and competency‑based articulated vocational education
courses; coordinates scheduling, lab development, and implementation of
classes; assists faculty and administrators to understand and carry out the
terms of articulation agreements; responds to inquiries and solves problems
related to articulation efforts; promotes articulated classes in the community;
may conduct labor market analysis, develop grant proposals, and monitor
assigned grant programs; prepares correspondence and reports as needed;
prepares informational and promotional materials regarding articulated programs
and articulation efforts; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and
Abilities
Knowledge of: community college and high school occupational
programs including the development of competency standards; college and high
school organizational structures and operating practices; labor market trends;
legal statutes; basic contract terms and structure.
Ability to: maintain, apply, and communicate updated
knowledges of trends and legislation affecting articulation; coordinate
activities between institutions; research and negotiate terms of arrangements;
develop standardized procedures; produce contract documents; develop and
monitor budgets; communicate effectively orally and in writing and establish
cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be experience in the coordination or
administration of occupational education programs and in negotiating
agreements.
Special Conditions of Employment
This classification requires local and moderate travel
throughout the county. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
