Job Summary
Provides clinical supervision to students in a controlled
hospital and/or laboratory, supervision to students in a college setting.
Scope
This position works in the area of Nursing. Work contacts include administrators, staff,
students, and hospital staff. Equipment
used includes computers, audiovisual equipment and a variety of medical
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of Nursing; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non‑routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
May direct work of students.
Representative Duties
Supervises, instructs, and evaluates students in a hospital
and/or college lab; plans and conducts student conferences; demonstrates
nursing skills and procedures; performs clinical instructions, and
demonstrations; observes return demonstration from students; coordinates work
with nurses and Education Department when using hospital, nursing homes or
other clinical settings; assists in tutoring students to prepare for tests;
monitors testing and students progress; plans and reviews assignments and observe
skills and procedures; maintains a current library of nursing periodicals and
books; supervises the operation of audio‑visual films, materials, and
equipment; prepares clinical/lab equipment for demonstrations and lectures;
orders necessary supplies and equipment; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and
Abilities
Knowledge of:
nursing skills and techniques; lab and audiovisual equipment.
Ability
to: supervise and evaluate students; conduct clinical instruction; maintain
library of periodicals; coordinate work with various locations; communicate
effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships
with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be work experience as a Registered Nurse in a
teaching role. A B.S.N. and current valid Nursing License certified in the
State of Arizona required.
Special Conditions of Employment
Possession of a current B.S.N. and current valid license
certified in the State of Arizona. CPR
certification, completed Hepatitis B immunization series, and annual update of
blood-borne pathogens.
Working Conditions
This class may require incumbents to stand and walk for
extended periods of time. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
