Job Summary


Develops, organizes and implements job placement activities at an assigned college.


Scope


This position works in the area of Occupational Education.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, business/industrial representatives and students.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment and audio visual equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an administrator who is responsible for the area of Placement; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.


Supervision Exercised


Supervises departmental secretary, staff, interns and students.


Representative Duties


Coordinates the career placement program for students and graduates seeking employment; coordinates job development activities/programs, seeks out cooperative education arrangements for students; assists students in the usage of the career placement credential system; provides college recruitment for business and industry seeking placement; maintains and updates career resource information, serves as a liaison between business, the college divisions, departments and students for purposes of communicating career employment opportunities and trends; maintains referral and placement opportunities for students; refers student applicants to employment opportunities; maintains current job announcement directory; maintains and provides statistical analysis regarding career placement activity; assists in writing resumes, completing applications and guides students in interview techniques; plans and hosts a Job Fair; analyzes and implements methods for improvement of services; updates job boards at the college; conducts graduate follow‑up and employee satisfaction surveys; monitors budget for department; develops brochures and booklets advertising career opportunity services; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: basic job seeking skills, retention and advancement; labor market trends.


Ability to: coordinate activities; work well with the various groups; accomplish program objectives; interpret statistical data; prepare presentations; communicate effectively orally and in writing and establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.



Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in business administration, counseling or education and/or experience in community college placement/career center, career advising, career exploration, job development or human resource development.


Special Conditions of Employment


Some positions may require State of Arizona Class D Driver's license.
