Job Summary


Assists in many areas of information technologies including operational management and special projects.  Conducts liaison, communication coordination, and troubleshooting activities for a variety of initiatives.


Scope


This position works in the area of information technologies.  Work contacts include administrators, College President, faculty, staff and students, as well as a variety of community, government and business organizations and other educational institutions. Equipment used includes standard office equipment and a variety of computer hardware and software.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise assigned staff.


Representative Duties


Assists in the planning, organization and administration of information technology activities of the college; maintains liaison with assigned district offices and user groups, faculty, staff and students, as well as other educational institutions and vendor partners; participates as a member of a variety of internal and external committees, task forces and organizations relevant to projects; performs troubleshooting activities of project and programs for students, faculty, staff or assigned administrator; assists in preparation and monitoring of budgets for special projects; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: a variety of computer hardware and software; current administrative practices and procedures; goals and activities of community colleges; uses of computers in educational and administrative applications.


Ability to: represent information technologies to a wide variety of internal and external constituencies; coordinate activities with college and district staff; diagnose problems and develop appropriate solutions/recommendations; make effective oral and written presentations; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.



Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be administrative experience in an educational environment involving project management with experience in hardware and software applications.
