Job Summary
Plans, coordinates, and provides media support services to
the instructional, student services, and administrative programs at the
college.
Scope
This position works in the Media Center. Work contacts
include administrators, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and community
members. Equipment used includes standard work equipment, audio/visual
(digital), and video/teleconferencing equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Associate Dean of Information
Technology; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters
and specific instructions regarding non-routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Directs the work of staff, students, temporary and contract
workers.
Representative Duties
Manages, supervises, and coordinates the delivery of support
services and staff in the Media Center to include events and activities requiring
media service support; coordinates instructional television classes, internal
and external satellite, videoconferencing and teleconferencing programs;
establishes work priorities and work schedules; develops operational rules and
procedures for the Media Center; selects media formats and systems and products
to be utilized within programs; develops and administers scheduling,
maintenance, and inventory of audiovisual and teleconferencing equipment
college wide; consults with faculty and staff to determine media needs
including design of mediated classrooms; hires, trains, supervises, and
evaluates assigned staff; develops and monitors operational budget and capital
equipment requests to include obsolescence and media equipment replacement
plans; develops short and long-range goals and plans for the center; acts as a
resource to college community on media services and products; performs related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: maintenance, operations, and instructional
uses of audiovisual, computer, and video/teleconferencing equipment; methods
and procedures for scheduling and inventory control; budget preparation and
management; effective training and supervisory methods; and customer service
techniques.
Ability to: supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of
others; assist faculty in the production and use of media materials and
equipment; maintain currency in available and emerging technologies; establish
cooperative working relationships in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be professional training or experience in
educational media service development and delivery in a supervisory capacity
preferred.
Special Conditions of Employment
Local travel required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
