Job Summary


Incorporates instructional design techniques in the development of materials and delivery of instruction for technology systems. Analyzes and develops user documentation and training materials related to the coordination and presentation of workshops/classes related technology.

 

Scope


This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include employees at all levels within the District, vendors and other professionals in the field. Equipment used includes standard office equipment and a variety of software programs.

 

Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised


Consultative direction and training is provided to users of computer systems throughout the District.  May direct the work of assigned staff.

 

Representative Duties


Develops instructional materials based on analysis and design; plans and develops technology training strategies for the implementation of new instructional and administrative technology systems; coordinates and conducts formal and informal training workshops/classes in multiple formats; provides technical and functional support for HR systems applications which may include troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving application issues; assists in the identification of user needs and selection of training materials and modalities; evaluates and revises training and materials as necessary; researches, evaluates and advises on current trends and developments in instructional technologies; researches instruction courseware and materials; performs front end analysis including needs assessment, task analysis, content analysis, learner characteristic assessment, environmental review and instructional analysis; develops user documentation and edits manuals and training materials as needed or requested; may develop reports, queries, testing scenario documentation and may conduct associated system testing; maintains updated awareness of developments in computer systems applications and communicates with District, lab staff and users regarding applications available; develops and distributes training/workshop schedule; may provide liaison between technical IT/lab staff and users; performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of:  instructional design as applied to information technologies; a variety of computer equipment, software and programming languages currently used in District computer systems; current trends within technology; software developments for computer applications; instructional and training techniques.

  

Ability to:  research, evaluate and translate technical information into clear, easily understood terms; rapidly learn to use new computer technologies, systems and languages; train users in the use of a variety of computer software and hardware; trouble‑shoot user problems with computer systems; identify user training needs; maintain accurate records; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be coursework in computer technology and/or experience in the use of a variety of computer systems, experience in training, instructional design and a variety of computer systems.

 

Special Conditions of Employment


May be required to work evening or weekend hours.
