Job Summary
Coordinates Tractor-Trailer Driver training program by utilizing the skills and resources of the college and its staff.
Scope
This position works in an
assigned area. Work contacts include administrators, outside agencies, staff,
students, and the public. Equipment used includes standard office and
Tractor-Trailer equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned Dean/Division Chair responsible for the program; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises
assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Develops curricula and
teaching materials required for Tractor-Trailer Driving; supervises and teaches
students; coordinates and upgrades curricula and teaching materials required by
state and federal regulations for Class “A” Commercial Driver License (CDL)
training; maintains ongoing Tractor-Trailer Driving Advisory Committee; directs
job development and placement services to meet the needs of local, state, and
national employers; assists in development of operational policies; assists in
developing targeted marketing efforts; assists in the preparation of
appropriate budgets; purchases and maintains property control of equipment,
training aids and supplies; assists in
scheduling all classes and assigning instructors; maintains the highest quality
of training consistent with requirements set forth by the state and federal
government or certification agency; maintains records on all students;
interviews, and advises students as necessary for admittance to the programs;
hires, trains, and evaluates staff; organizes and supervises assigned staff;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Tractor-Trailer Driver certification requirements.
Ability
to: advise students; develop curricula
and teaching materials; interpret data; establish needs of public and private
industry; supervise assigned staff; communicate effectively orally and in
writing and establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted
in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of
education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and
abilities. Demonstrated training and
administrative experience in Tractor-Trailer Driving training programs.
Instructional experience preferred.
Special Conditions of Employment
Arizona Department of
Transportation Certified Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class “A” Truck
Instructor. Arizona Department of
Transportation Third Party Tester for Class “A” Truck Licenses.
