Job Summary
Plan, develop, organize, and implement/conduct AA/EEO, diversity, and intercultural competency learning programs, events, and activities for college or district-wide use. Programs may include credit and non-credit courses.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, consultants, vendors, external agencies/committees, and the public. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Work direction may be given to temporary employees, student
workers, or interns as assigned; consultative direction and training may be
provided to instructors, trainers and facilitators.
Representative Duties
Plans, develops, and implements a district-wide Diversity
Competency/Training Model; organizes and conducts AA/EEO, diversity, and
intercultural competency learning programs, events, and activities such as MCCD
Diversity Core Training, Search Committee Training, Increasing Intercultural
Sensitivity Training, a Diversity Train-the-Trainer Certification Program,
etc.; develops and coordinates curriculum for diversity (credit and non-credit)
courses, workshops, conferences, and seminars; organizes AA/EEO, diversity, and
intercultural competency learning program evaluation and follow-up processes;
recruits, selects, evaluates and provides training and consultative direction
to instructors, trainers, or facilitators for assigned learning programs; researches
and evaluates trends in employee development and AA/EEO, diversity, and
intercultural competency learning programs; assists in developing policy,
procedures, and processes to support AA/EEO, diversity, and intercultural
competency learning strategies; develops informational and promotional
materials, such as brochures, schedules, or web pages, etc.; serves as a
resource to other district employees working in the area of AA/EEO, diversity,
and intercultural competency such as College Diversity Coordinators;
participates on related college or district-wide committees such as Diversity
Council or college-based diversity committees; performs related duties as
assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: curriculum development; instructional design
and delivery; methods, principles, and strategies of adult learning theory and
organizational development; presentation, public speaking, training, and
facilitation methodologies; interpersonal communication and human relations
theories/concepts; trends and issues related to AA/EEO, diversity, and
intercultural competency learning programs.
Ability to: work with diverse populations; assess and
provide appropriate interventions based on individual/group intercultural
competency level; maintain sensitivity and confidentiality related to human
development issues; research and evaluate trends in AA/EEO, diversity, and
intercultural competency learning areas; assess competency training and
development needs; plan, evaluate, and implement competency learning programs;
coordinate the work of others; translate theoretical/conceptual information
into clear, easily understood terms; write facilitation/training aids, manuals
and materials; facilitate/train employees in the use of a variety of AA/EEO,
diversity, and intercultural competency learning concepts or skill areas;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in a related field and/or
experience in the coordination or training of AA/EEO, diversity, and intercultural
competency learning programs.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
