Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements marketing programs and
media buying to support the goals and objective of the college.
Scope
This position works in the area of marketing. Work contacts
include administrators, faculty, staff and media and advertising vendors. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director Sales, Marketing &
Public Relations; receives broad instruction regarding routine and standard
matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive
matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the
positions of Graphic Designer, Writer, Administrative Secretary, Office
Assistant and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Coordinates media buying and placement for the college
including print advertising, radio and television commercials, internet and direct
mail promotions; coordinates the implementation of the advertising plan; bids
and negotiates all marketing related projects including advertising, printing
and professional services; coordinates the production of radio and television
commercials, internet banners etc; manages the budget and provides projections
for annual budget; creates reports regarding activities of the department;
participates in appropriate committees; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: media buying; graphic design including the use
of photography and printing; current advertising, public relations and
marketing principles, practices and techniques; philosophy and activities of
community colleges.
Ability to: coordinate and buy a variety of media to
facilitate coverage to support the goals and objectives of the college;
maintain updated awareness of district-wide activities; communicate effectively
orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in journalism, advertising
or marketing or related field and/or responsible experience in marketing,
public relations, broadcast and print production.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
