Job Summary


Coordinates the area of prospect research and information management support needed to achieve institutional fundraising and marketing goals.


Scope


This position works in the area of Resource Development.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, consultants, business/industry, community and governmental leaders.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to the Director Resource Development; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding highly sensitive matters.


Supervision Exercised


Supervises temporary staff.


Representative Duties


Directs and coordinates the design, development, and implementation of data bases and information management systems: the Constituentcy Information Management System [CIMS] and the Alumni Development System [ADS] used for fundraising, marketing, public relations, corporate services, govermental relations, alumni and foundation relations; utilizes social research methodologies to direct, design, and conduct institutional, survey, basic, and prospect research relative to fundraising and marketing issues; identifies, collects, analyzes data and provides information needed for decision making related to achievement of fundraising goals; directs and facilitates the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the standardization and implementation of data bases and information management systems; determines and facilitates training needs; coordinates the purchase and installation of microcomputer software and hardware; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: policy analysis and social research methodologies, practices, and techniques; methods,  practices and techniques of information management; design, development, and terminology used in the development of small and large‑scale computerized data bases and information management systems; project management practices.


Ability to: direct and coordinate projects; work with internal and external consultants; develop consensus among individuals with various interests and perspectives; supervise staff; organize,  prioritize, and coordinate the work of others; use and train others to use micro and mainframe computer software and hardware; analyze complex data using computerized statistical packages; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in public or business administration or higher education with experience in social research, policy analysis, and the development of small and large scale data base and information management systems.


Special Conditions of Employment


Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
