Job Summary
Plans, coordinates
and administers the fundraising, marketing, outreach and listener services
efforts of Sun Sounds radio broadcast and dial-in information access services.
Scope
This position works
in an assigned area of Sun Sounds. Work contacts include business leaders,
listeners, donors, staff, volunteers, state, local and federal government
representatives. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports
to the Director of Sun Sounds Program of Arizona; receives general direction
regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non-routine
and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Provides direction to
assigned staff, temporaries and volunteers.
Representative Duties
Designs and
administers fundraising activities including program underwriting, direct mail
campaigns, planned giving appeals, special events, federal and state grants and
foundation and corporate grants; develops and administers marketing and
outreach activities including on-air promotional schedules (radio buys), public
service ads (print and television), news release schedule, theatre slides,
photo-shoots, brochure production, speaking engagements, mailing lists and
overall organizational image presentation; administers the listener services
efforts including database management, filing of narrative reports to federal and
state funding organizations and analysis of listener data for grants, surveys,
focus groups and radio inventory; maintains legal compliance of all fundraising
and marketing activities; trains staff and volunteers; performs other duties as
assigned.
Knowledge and
Abilities
Knowledge of:
disability issues and needs of special populations; sensitivity and diversity
training; sales experience; planned giving; grant writing; special event and
promotional planning; direct mail for special audiences; event sponsorship;
public relations; data analysis; FCC rules and regulations.
Ability to: work with
special populations; lead others and build teams in implementing fundraising
strategies; develop a variety of funding sources; develop vision and goals;
understand and communicate the difference between product development and
charitable service fundraising; develop and administer budget; communicate
effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships
with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and
Experience
Any combination of
education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and
abilities. An example of this would be a college degree in marketing,
communications, public relations or related field and/or experience in all
aspects of fundraising and marketing with a non-profit charitable service in a
supervisory capacity.
Special Conditions of
Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
