TITLE: COORDINATOR ABE TRANSITION SERVICES

Job Summary


Plans, implements and coordinates programs which actively recruit and retain Adult Basic Education students.


Scope


This position works in an assigned area.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator responsible for overseeing the Adult Basic Education program; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Program Advisor, Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff.


Representative Duties


Develops, implements and coordinates activities that recruit and retain Adult Basic Education students; evaluates the program; implements and modifies policies and guidelines; coordinates an information resource service; organizes and maintains resource materials; designs and produces materials that promote the program services; prepares reports and presentations; develops and coordinates workshops and seminars; serves on district-wide committees; supervises assigned staff.


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: educational and supportive needs; Adult Basic Education populations and recruitment practices.


Ability to: advise and counsel Adult Basic Education students; plan and implement programs; evaluate programs; prepare presentations; supervise staff; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education with formal coursework in counseling, guidance, psychology or human relations and/or experience in program development and community service.



Special Conditions of Employment


State of Arizona Class D Drivers license.
