Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements the
alumni/community
relations programs for the purpose of cultivating and involving former
students
and community members in financial and non‑financial support of the
colleges and centers.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty, staff, students, alumni volunteers and community and business
organizations. Equipment used includes
standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned
administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific
instructions
regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
May provide work direction to students and
volunteers.
Representative Duties
Establishes and implements fundraising
programs for
scholarships and other resources; designs, coordinates and implements
alumni
volunteer development programs, involving contact with alumni to
sustain their
involvement; staffs alumni organizations and committees; designs and
coordinates the implementation of strategies for identification and
location of
alumni/community resources; coordinates special events for alumni
participation; assists the Director or Administrator in the design and
implementation of fundraising programs involving alumni/community
resources;
assists in the development and effective use of alumni database used
for record
keeping of alumni activities at the colleges/centers; coordinates the
communications programs at the colleges/centers; prepares and monitors
budget;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: fund raising principles;
developing and
implementing alumni relations associations; working with volunteers;
use of
computer databases; direct mail and telemarketing principles and
techniques.
Ability to: meet deadlines; develop
budgets; motivate and
work effectively with volunteers; communicate effectively orally and in
writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in
the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and
experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and/or experience
in public
relations, journalism or marketing.
Special Conditions of Employment
Position may require evenings and weekend
work.
