Job Summary
Assists in the planning and implementation of the college
resource development (fundraising) program to raise funds from new and existing
sources.
Scope
This position works in the area of development. Work contacts include Foundation Board
members, donors, prospective donors, volunteers, faculty, staff and
administrators. Equipment used includes
standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the position of Administrative Secretary and/or
students and temporaries.
Representative Duties
Plans and implements fundraising programs and activities to
support fundraising programs for the college; makes presentations to organizations
to promote scholarship awareness for students; directs the individualized Donor
Stewardship Program to acknowledge and recognize individual donors; administers
financial operations which includes receipt of gifts, budgeting, auditing
accounts and preparation of reports; may train students to complete scholarship
applications; may supervise volunteer programs; recommends policy/procedures
regarding operations of the development area; maintains liaison with Foundation
Board members and donors; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: principles of fundraising; financial operation
and accounting for nonprofit organizations; gift management and donor
relations; financial aid and scholarship award policies and procedures.
Ability to: communicate with a diversity of persons in
organizations; maintain high degree of discretion and confidentiality in
activities with volunteers and board members; communicate effectively orally
and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted during the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and/or responsible
experience in fundraising, gift management, financial aid or scholarship award.

Working Conditions
Position may require evening or weekend hours. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
