Job Summary
Coordinates courses offered at area high schools that meet
the competencies of college courses in order to provide dual credit.
Facilitates the creation of courses and evaluates the credentials of
instructors.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts
include faculty, administrators, staff, teachers and other representatives of
educational institutions and the community.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director Community Partnership
Programs; receives broad direction and latitude regarding the educational goals
of the District.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may provide direction to secretarial staff, students and
temporaries.
Representative Duties
Coordinates the dual enrollment program for the college;
presents program to high school personnel; reviews high school curriculum to
determine appropriate dual enrollment courses; collects and reviews the
credentials of high school teachers to determine qualifications; conducts
testing and registration for dual enrollment classes at area high schools; applies
rules and regulations as established by the District and the state; provides
information to college personnel regarding the dual enrollment program;
coordinates the payment processing; prepares reports; facilitates professional
growth for dual enrollment faculty; maintains confidential personnel records;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: high school and community college mission,
programs and practices; school partnership models; project management; basic statistical
computations; standard office practices, procedures and equipment; a variety of
computer applications.
Ability to: represent department and the District to a wide
range of constituencies; coordinate course development activities; learn and maintain
updated knowledge of policies, procedures and current practices and trends in
the area of dual enrollment; coordinate, monitor and evaluate projects and
activities; work independently while recognizing situations that require the
supervisor's attention; maintain confidentiality; communicate effectively
orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education or related
field and/or experience in higher education and/or high school partnerships involving
administrative development.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
