Job Summary
Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates employee
and organizational learning programs and tools for college or districtwide use.
Scope
This position works in the area of employee and
organizational development. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, vendors and professionals in
the field of employee and organizational development. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Manager Employee &
Organizational Development; receives general direction regarding routine and
standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly
sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise Technology Trainer, Office Coordinator
and/or other assigned staff; provides direction to trainers/facilitators and/or department
secretary, temporaries, and/or students.
Representative Duties
Researches, evaluates and advises on current trends and
developments in organizational learning for their impact upon the District's or
college educational and administrative activities; conducts in‑service
training efforts related to organizational learning; conducts needs analysis to
identify applicable training and educational requirements; provides
consultation to administrators and other staff regarding learning; develops
and/or customizes instructional materials for use in workshops; pilot-tests
instructional materials; represents the assigned area in public relations
activities including public speaking and coordinating conferences; directs the
work of other staff members, as assigned, on a project basis; writes
documentation and training manuals; conducts workshops and individualized
instruction for District or college employees; selects and plans for the use of
technology in instruction; develops on-line registration and survey forms;
selects, trains and makes assignments for volunteer learning facilitators;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: instructional design; educational and administrative computer applications;
interpersonal communication and relations; learning styles; theory and
organizational development; standard office practices and procedures; college
administrative policies; alternative instructional delivery.
Ability
to: research and evaluate trends in organizational development in relation to
the District's or college needs; train and direct the work of others;
facilitate training sessions; write training documentation and manuals in
easily understood terms; organize office procedures and maintain accurate
records; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative
working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing
assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in organizational
development, training or related field
along with coursework in teaching or instructional design and/or experience in
the training.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a
Class D Driver’s License.
