Job Summary
Develops and coordinates an academic advising, assessment
and enrollment program for the college.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include faculty, staff,
students and community organizations.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on location/department, may supervise the
positions of Student Services Specialist, Student Services Technician, Program
Advisor, Academic Advisor, Administrative Assistant and/or other assigned
staff.
Representative Duties
Develops and coordinates college advising, assessment and
enrollment; identifies needs of the college; develops and coordinates academic
advisement, assessment and new student orientation; develops and supervises
programs to advise new, continuing and prospective students on admission,
courses and program requirements, registration procedures, and other support
services; provides assistance to students regarding transfer issues and
complaints; supervises and trains assigned staff; establishes system for
tracking student enrollment, decline and retention within guidelines of
federal, state and local agencies; prepares reports and presentations;
maintains liaison with internal/external committees and organizations; manages
assigned budget; may coordinate outreach activities for high schools,
businesses and job fairs; may analyze enrollment trends; performs related
duties as assigned.

of: needs of college and community served; organizational practice; community
college instructional offering and educational planning; advisement and
assessment.
Ability
to: plan and organize multiple activities; establish appropriate reporting
systems; coordinate diverse student programs; supervise and organize work flow;
coordinate the work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing;
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course
of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education, counseling or
related filed and/or administrative experience in the area of academic
assessment, advising or related area.
Special Conditions of Employment
This position may require
working extended hours. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
