Job Summary
Coordinates Emergency Medical Technology/Fire Science
training programs by utilizing the skills and resources of the college and its
staff.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators, staff,
students, and the public. Equipment used
includes standard office and various EMT equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned Dean/Division Chair
responsible for the program; receives general direction regarding routine and
standard matters and specific instructions regarding non‑routine and
highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Develops curricula and teaching materials required for
Emergency Medical Technology or Fire Science; coordinates and upgrades
curricula and teaching materials required by state and federal regulations for
Emergency Medical Technology or Fire Science programs; may provide skills
training; assists in the preparation of appropriate budgets and maintains
property control on all equipment and supplies; assists in scheduling all
classes and assigning instructors; maintains close coordination with all
other entities involved
in emergency medical and fire science services; maintains the highest
quality of training consistent with requirements set forth by the state and
federal government or certification agency; maintains records on all students;
tests, interviews, and advises students as necessary for admittance to the
programs; hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff; performs related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: EMT/Fire Academy equipment; practical application of Emergency Medical
Technology training, CPR techniques; state and federal EMT regulations.
Ability
to: advise students; provide skills training; develop curricula and teaching
materials; interpret data; establish needs of public and private industry;
supervise assigned staff; communicate effectively orally and in writing and
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be certification in EMT/Fire Science and
paramedic certification by the Arizona Department of Health Services by the
State Community College Board with demonstrated training and administrative
experience.
Special Conditions of Employment
Position may require possession of a current Arizona State
Emergency Medical Technician certification and CPR certification or Fire
Instructor I certification. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s
License.
