Job Summary


Coordinates and directs the instructional helpdesk. Acts as a liaison among faculty, staff and students. Provides training and assistance students and faculty.


Scope


This position works in the area of instruction. Work contacts include faculty, administrators, staff, students, business and professional organizations.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment. 


Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters. 


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise assigned staff.


Representative Duties


Coordinates projects and activities such as curriculum/course development, instructional design, delivery of instructional programs, special events and awards programs; maintains liaison for supervisor with other District departments and outside organizations; provides training and assistance to students and faculty; conducts workshops on the use of technology in teaching; oversees the tutoring service; monitors developing trends and available services relevant to assigned area and informs supervisor; participates with administrators and other staff in planning departmental activities; coordinates, prepares and/or edits narrative and statistical reports, presentations, schedules, handbooks and promotional materials; provides research assistance on special projects; composes correspondence; supervises assigned staff; monitors budgets; performs related duties as assigned. 


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: project management; basic statistical computations; proper grammar, vocabulary and spelling; philosophy, activities and organizational structure of educational institutions; standard office practices, procedures and equipment; computer applications.


Ability to: represent department and the District to a wide range of constituencies; coordinate course development activities; learn and maintain updated knowledge of policies, procedures and practices and trends in the assigned area; coordinate, monitor and evaluate projects and activities; organize, prioritize and direct the work of others; work independently while recognizing situations that require the supervisor's attention; maintain confidentiality; maintain accurate statistical records; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.



Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education or training and/or experience in teaching or online instruction. 


Special Conditions of Employment


Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
