Job Summary


Develops and coordinates an academic advising program for the college.  Plans, evaluates and implements college marketing program to enhance student enrollment and retention.


Scope


This position works in the area of Student Services; work contacts include faculty, staff, students, and community organization.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an appropriate Dean; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.


Supervision Exercised


Supervises students, temporaries, and academic advising personnel.


Representative Duties


Develops and coordinates college marketing plan to set present and future goals; identifies needs of the college and the community served; develops and coordinates the academic advising program; develops and supervises programs to advise new, continuing and prospective students on admission, courses and program requirements, registration procedures and other support services; supervises and trains assigned staff; establishes system for tracking student enrollment, decline, and retention within guidelines of federal, state and local agencies; analyzes enrollment trends; prepares reports and presentations; maintains liaison with internal/external committees and organizations for student recruitment and retention purposes; manages budget for marketing and advisement; orders materials, displays, and supplies; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: developing and implementing marketing and recruitment programs; needs of college and community served; organizational practices; community college instructional offering and educational planning.


Ability to: plan and organize multiple activities; assess marketing needs and utilize college and community resources; establish appropriate reporting systems; supervise and organize work flow; coordinate the work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be administrative experience in the area of marketing, recruitment, and academic advising, preferably in an educational institution.


Special Conditions of Employment


This position requires working extended hours. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
