TITLE: COORDINATOR SENIOR ADULT PROGRAMS

Job Summary


Develops and administers self‑supporting noncredit business, community education and service programs and/or senior adult education programs at a college.


Scope


This position works in the area of instruction.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students and wide variety of community representatives.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator responsible for the assigned program; receives general direction in routine matters; specific instructions in non‑routine matters.


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Administrative Secretary and other assigned staff. The position also participates in hiring and provides work direction and evaluation to part‑time faculty in the assigned education program.


Representative Duties


Assesses community needs for noncredit instruction; develops and provides staff support to community advisory committees for assigned programs; maintains liaison with relevant community and business organization; develops curriculum and determines course offerings; recruits, selects and evaluates instructors; provides orientation, in‑service training and work direction to instructors; prepares promotional materials, course schedules and reports; determines class fees; develops and monitors budget; oversees collection and recordkeeping of fees; supervises assigned staff; may participate on college committees; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: curriculum development; instructional design and delivery; community educational needs and preferences including assigned special needs groups; public relations and marketing techniques.


Ability to: coordinate program development and delivery with a variety of interested parties to meet the needs of target groups; promote and manage self‑supporting educational programs; train, supervise and evaluate the work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.



Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education or a related field and experience in the coordination or administration of educational programs to meet community and/or target group needs.


Special Conditions of Employment


Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
