TITLE: COORDINATOR TRANSFER SERVICES

Job Summary


Coordinates, plans and supervises advisement/transfer activities.  Develops advisement procedures for faculty and staff at the college. 


Scope


This position works in an assigned area.  Work contacts include faculty, staff, administrators, students and the public. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.


Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters. 


Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Student Services Specialist and/or other assigned staff. 


Representative Duties


Coordinates advisement/transfer activities in an assigned area; conducts in‑service workshops/training; maintains advisor/university representative schedules; advises students regarding programs in conjunction with faculty advisors; may research, advise and advocate on behalf of students experiencing barriers to transfer process; refers students to departments, transfer universities and pre-profession resources for advisement; plans and updates a computerized advisement system; coordinates academic/transfer advisement resources for students; updates resource documents to provide accurate curriculum materials; confers with four‑year institutions regarding information on transfer of credits; may act as Transfer Student Ombudsperson (TSO); develops handbook, faculty materials and brochures; attends district-wide and state committee meetings and student orientations; serves as a liaison with local high schools and universities; performs related duties as assigned. 


Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: academic advising methods; business and educational institution offerings; curriculum, articulation and transfer of credits; college computer systems; assessment procedures; tests and measurements.


Ability to: determine student needs and translate into recommendations for programs; advise students; organize workflow; monitor budgets; prepare reports; interpret educational guidelines; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.



Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in counseling or related academic field with administrative experience in academic advisement or federal or university education programs.

Working Conditions


Some evening hours may be required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
