TITLE: DATABASE ANALYST II

Job Summary

Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of databases and the database system, including the maintenance and front-end applications.

Scope

This position works in an assigned area or department. Work contacts include administrators, faculty and staff. Equipment used includes standard office equipment and a variety of computer hardware and software.

Supervision Received

This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.

Supervision Exercised

May direct the work of technician, temporaries, students and others as assigned.

Representative Duties

Schedules input and monitors systems for data information to be stored; monitors extractions and provides updates and maintenance to the system; monitors the system procedures and modifies/enhances the application and the web documents as needed; provide maintenance and support for other database systems; generate and maintain all web documents and on-line surveys/evaluations; assists in the development of policies and procedures related to the implementation and maintenance of database applications; resolves database problems; consults on database design; coordinates database system performance and space use; performs related duties assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: database design and database development tools; operating systems database system installation and maintenance; World Wide Web (WWW) interfaces to database systems; database security design and implementation.

Ability to: maintain database applications and systems; interpret documentations and manuals; document database applications and solutions; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

Training and Experience

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a college coursework in information technology with specialized courses in database design and maintenance.

Position in this class may require prolonged monitor viewing. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
