Job Summary
Directs, plans, promotes, implements and evaluates middle
and high school-based community college education and enrichment programs. Identifies potential at risk, financially
disadvantaged and first generation college bound students in conjunction with
service area schools to provide enrichment programs.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include faculty, administrators
and staff at partner middle and high schools, community colleges, universities,
middle and high school and college students, parents, representatives from
business, industry, the community and private and public funding sources. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to a Vice President, Dean or assigned
administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard
matters, specific instructions for non-routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of Program Advisor, Coordinator
Instructional Services, Outreach Specialist K-12, Administrative Secretary
and/or other assigned staff, students and temporaries.
Representative Duties
Administers the development, promotion and coordination of ACE
plus program; may develop a strategic plan for the Junior ACE program; establishes
and coordinates linkages with program services to meet student educational
needs; creates new and strengthens existing partnerships with community, public
and private agencies and other institutions; works with college services to
facilitate referrals, consultative arrangements, tutoring and testing services;
screens and evaluates instructors and staff who work with the ACE Plus
students; develops family participation strategies and activities; develops
linkages with middle and secondary schools, universities, business and industry
to encourage and empower students in the program; prepares and monitors program
budget; prepares and monitors grant/funding proposals and reports; participates
on college, community and statewide advisory boards and committees; identifies
and oversees the work of content specialists (instructional designers); may establish
a planning committee to collaboratively identify age-appropriate strategies,
experiences and activities; perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: academic advising and techniques; various middle
and high school, community college and university programs; program development
and assessment techniques; educational services and student support needs;
academic preparation, college and career development concepts; issues in middle
and high school and higher education; student advocacy; grants/funding;
scholarship based programs; human development and support services.
Ability to: plan, direct and facilitate a strategic plan
with community, staff and student committee members; understand diverse student
populations and demonstrate cultural awareness; administer and evaluate
programs; maintain budget; secure and monitor grant/funding proposals;
supervise staff and direct the work of others; communicate effectively orally
and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education, liberal arts,
an occupational discipline or related field and/or responsible experience in
the development, promotion or coordination and evaluation of at-risk student
programs.
Special Conditions of Employment
This position requires flexible work hours; State of

Local and in-state travel is required.
