Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements international education
programs in various areas in conjunction with service area schools and
community groups that provide educational opportunities, recruitment and
retention of International students.
Scope
This position works in the area of Student
Services/Instruction. Work contacts
include administrators, faculty, staff, prospective students, the public
including agencies that serve persons from other nations. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned Dean; receives general
direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions
regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
May direct the work of program advisors, administrative
interns, departmental secretary and students.
Representative Duties
Administers the development and coordination of an
International Education Program/Student Center; coordinates linkages with
programs and services to meet educational needs; works with other college
services to facilitate referrals, consultative arrangements, tutoring and
testing services; develops educational outreach activities in schools,
community agencies, community organizations and related organizations to
encourage International students to attend higher education/post secondary programs;
establishes linkages with community, state and federal agencies that provide
services to foreign students, works cooperatively to promote the program;
recommends the development of or offering of courses beneficial to the
students; develops in‑service training for instructors, staff and
administrators working with international students; prepares and monitors
budget, marketing and recruitment for the center/program; performs related
duties as assigned.

Abilities
Knowledge
of: academic advising techniques; various types of programs related to
international education; program development; educational and supportive needs;
career and educational development concepts; business/industry; human
development and support services.
Ability
to: advise International Students; understand diverse populations and
demonstrate cultural awareness; design and administer programs for domestic and
international students including recruitment, retention and curriculum;
communicate effectively orally and in writing and establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in Education or related
field and/or experience in the program administration of International
Program/Student Centers.
