Job Summary
Develops, plans, supervises and automates the cable television programming at Maricopa Colleges Television (MCTV).
Scope
This position works in the area of MCTV. Work contacts include administrators, staff, and outside agencies. Equipment used includes standard office and cable television equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director MCTV; receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
May supervise full-time, part-time, temporary, student, and
volunteer staff.
Representative Duties
Plans, develops, recommends, and implements program
schedules; disseminates program information to internal and external agencies;
analyzes current market trends and changes to determine programming; monitors
station to ensure compliance and coordination with external and internal
standards and regulations; programs automation hardware and software for 24/7
cable station operation; supervises, directs and schedules assigned staff;
assists in planning and budget preparation; performs related duties as
assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: methods,
practices, equipment and terminology used in video design and production;
project management; current cable television automation hardware and software.
Ability to: plan and audition programs; interpret data to
determine projected programming; write and design program information and
materials for use in a variety of media; utilize current cable television
automation hardware and software; communicate orally and in writing and
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree with experience in public
broadcasting in a supervisory capacity.
Special Conditions of Employment
Positions in this class may
require extended CRT viewing. After hours and/or weekend work may be required.
On-call via telephone and/or pager required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
