Job Summary
Plans, designs and directs the college recruitment program
to enhance student enrollment and retention.
Scope
This position works in the area of recruitment. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, high schools,
business/industry and community organizations. Equipment used includes standard
office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator who is
responsible for student services; receives general direction regarding routine
and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non-routine matters and
highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of Student Services Specialist,
Coordinator Student Services, Office Coordinator and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Plans, designs and directs a comprehensive recruitment and
retention program; administers the college recruitment program which includes
outreach activities, high school relations, student recruitment and admission
to the college, and business/industry relations; plans, organizes, implements
and supervises recruitment activities; identifies needs of the students,
college and the community served; coordinates functions with other college
departments and personnel; establishes a system for tracking potential student
enrollment and high school visitation schedules; analyzes enrollment trends;
works with the marketing department to develop marketing materials to support
recruitment activities; develops and implements marketing strategies and
targeted recruitment populations; develops and implements workshops and
seminars on recruitment activities; trains and supervises assigned staff;
provides a population analysis used in determining the targeted recruitment
efforts; evaluates data to determine recruitment program outcomes and
effectiveness; prepares reports, materials and formal presentations for program
use and implementation; develops, plans and initiates outreach activities in
schools, community agencies, organizations, business and industry to promote
enrollment in higher education programs; coordinates tracking systems, data
collection analyses and follow-up surveys; may plan and implement student
orientation programs; plans and monitors budget for recruitment efforts;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: admission and recruitment programs; needs of
high school, college and community served; current management practices;
database management systems in recruitment; software for analysis of data;
marketing and recruitment strategies; data interpretation and evaluation;
record-keeping, financial, statistical and report practices.
Ability to: organize and mange a complex college recruitment
program; supervise the work of assigned staff; prepare interpret statistical
data; prepare and administer budgets; communicate effectively orally and in
writing; establish cooperative working relationships in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education, sociology or
related field and/or experience in student recruitment/retention programs in a
supervisory capacity.
Special Conditions of Employment
May be required to work a flex schedule, extended hours and
weekends; extensive local travel. State of Arizona Class D Driver's License.
