Job Summary
Plans, develops, promotes, implements, directs and assesses college-wide employee and organizational learning programs and special partnership programs that directly support the college’s strategic goals/issues.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include Governing Board members, Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, College Presidents, administrators, faculty, staff, students, teachers, administrators and other representatives of educational institutions, community members, professional organizations and educational leaders throughout the nation. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on location/department, may direct the work of
support staff, students and temporary workers.
Representative Duties
Plans, develops, promotes, implements, directs and assesses
college and community events, employee development activities, projects,
programs, technologies and/or services to support the programs; develops and
maintains linkages and partnerships with various community and educational
institutions, and professional associations; provides leadership in planning
and budget development for assigned area; administers approved budgets from
several fund sources in accordance with college and district guidelines;
negotiates contracts, speakers and purchases for the college; collaborates with
the executive team, faculty, staff and others to further employee,
organizational and partnership development to meet the changing needs of the
college and the community it serves; represents the college and/or assigned
area at college and community functions to include public speaking; serves on
appropriate college, district and community committees; maintains current
knowledge of trends and developments in the assigned area; communicates with
employees/groups as needed; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current principles, practices and trends in
leadership and management as they apply to employee and organizational
learning; community college, educational, and community issues; facilitation
and event planning techniques, interpersonal communication skills,
instructional design, learning styles and effective uses of technology in
education.
Ability to: plan, organize and implement multiple projects;
work collaboratively with college and district employees and community members;
establish cooperative working relationshipos with persons and organizations contacted
in the course of performing assigned duties; communicate effectively orally and
in writing; make oral and written presentations; supervise staff; prepare and
administer budgets; and establish cooperative working relationships with
persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education or a related
field and experience in an employee or organizational development environment;
working with educational partnership programs; and special events planning.
Special Conditions of Employment
This position may require
local and regional travel. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
