Job Summary
Plans, directs and implements comprehensive student services
programs for an extended campus. Develops and maintains partnerships with
educational institutions, the community and other organizations to provide a
wide range of services to students.
Scope
This position works in the area of student services. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty, staff, students and the public.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator who is
responsible for student services; receives general direction regarding routine
and standard matters; specific instruction regarding non‑routine and
highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of Program Advisor, Admissions
Clerk, Financial Aid Technician, Administrative Secretary, Administrative
Assistant, Receptionist and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Manages the day to day activities of multiple student
services including admissions and records, financial aid, assessment, student
activities, advisement, recruitment and disability; coordinates student
services functions in conjunction with other personnel; ensures compliance with
state, federal and district regulations; advises and enforces college policy
relating to student services; resolves issues relating to student misconduct
and disciplinary needs; responsible for the security and confidentiality of
student records; serves on college and district committees; serves as a liaison
with the community and business and industry as it relates to campus activities
and services; manages department budget; supervises assigned staff; performs
related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: student development theory and practices; college registration and records
maintenance procedures; computerized on‑line systems; governmental and
special funding guidelines and regulations applicable to comprehensive student
services functions; college and district policies.
Ability
to: supervise the work of others; prepare, maintain and interpret statistical
data; coordinate numerous student services programs; develop/implement new
programs and services; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish
cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and experience in
supervising multiple areas of student services.
Special Conditions of Employment
Position may require incumbent to work extended hours. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
