Job Summary
Manages the web site for the college. Supervises and advises web page developers
and provides technical and analytical solutions to problems with the use of web
development tools.
Scope
This position works in the area of information
technology. Work contacts include
administrators, faculty and staff.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment, computer hardware and
software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an administrator responsible for
the area of information technology; receives general direction regarding
routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine
matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise and directs the work of technical
staff.
Representative Duties
Directs and manages the design and implementation of web
pages and applications; directs the development of uniform web pages to
represent the college image; assists users in the use of web development tools
and applications; configures, sets up, and monitors server operation and
performance; develops scripts to integrate databases; hires, trains and
supervises assigned staff; manages new web development projects; works with
faculty and staff to determine required web functionality; performs related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: operation of a computer operating system;
principles and techniques of web development and applications; web programming
techniques and procedures; graphic design; computer graphic applications;
system administration on UNIX, Windows NT, other operating systems and
programs.
Ability to: integrate databases into active server pages;
create server scripts; create and administer databases; interpret computer
data; identify and resolve software and operating system problems; evaluate web
development tools; modify and implement selected web applications to interface
with existing applications; communicate effectively; establish cooperative
working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing
assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in computer science and/or
experience in web development or computer programming in a large-scale computer
systems environment in a supervisory capacity.

Working Conditions

viewing. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
